Describing your hair type as "medium" may feel so uninspiring, but the silver lining is that you have a seemingly endless array of styling options. “This hair type may not take a lot of work to style bigger or smaller, it’s flexible and usually easy to work with," says Jon Reyman, the master hairstylist and founder of Spoke & Weal.

But for an easy, everyday look, it's best to go for the basics, like Reyman did for this look on Domino’s Photo Editor. Lahaina's long hair is naturally wavy, but Reyman wanted to finesse the curls for a smoother style that still looked natural and relaxed.

“Her hair is naturally frizzy, so she normally puts in a bunch of creams, but it still doesn’t combat her frizz,” says Reyman. “Instead, her hair needs to add more polymers to help grip it, in order for it to look that way, it needs to have that paliable, tactile feel.”

Wash
Use a light shampoo, and a richer conditioner. Reyman loves Aveda Smooth Infusion conditioner for medium hair.

Blow Dry
Use a blow dryer with the nozzle attachment (Reyman swears by the Dyson Supersonic Dryer). “The nozzle helps direct the heat and concentrate the airflow, so it’s more of a refined blow dry.” Use a Vess brush when drying hair so hair doesn’t get too tight or straight.

Curl
Now, for the main show! Set your curling iron on high heat. Grab sections and twist around the iron. Hold for a second and release. Repeat until all your hairs are happy and curled.

Once finished, run through hair with your hands to break up the curl. “It’s super natural with not being overly done, but still really pretty,” says Reyman.
