These were the other color contenders.

It’s no secret that Justina Blakeney loves to decorate with color.

But the designer seems to have outdone herself with a prismatic project she just posted on Instagram: her bedroom, which is drenched in a rich shade of teal. The fireplace bricks, the walls, and even the ceiling got the blue-green treatment.

As Blakeney surely knows, with most monochromatic looks, especially when using such a vivid color, keeping things interesting is all about adding texture. In her case, limewashing the walls and ceiling in Sydney Harbour Paint’s Blue Reef kept the room from looking flat. Bedding in similar shades adds extra visual layers, too.

That’s not to say she was 100 percent sure about the color from the start. After all, sometimes even designers have a hard time choosing which hue to go with, and Blakeney shares that she also considered these shades from Sydney Harbour: Agave, Currarong, Laguna, and Waterfall

And it seems like the result was worth it, as she writes in her caption: “The moment I walked in after the room was painted, I gasped. I was transported.”
