Our cursors regularly hover over IKEA’s new and trending products tab because we know the Swedish retailer likes to drop batches of fresh stock, limited editions, and new colors quietly. The section is a barometer of trend—it offers clues as to what we’ll see trickle down to other budget retailers over the next year. Among the canny storage solutions, versatile lighting, and of-the-moment finishes, our editors spotted several items that’ll definitely be in everyone’s carts in 2025.

Chrome and nickel are on the rise, no doubt. When I chatted with Tina Schnabel, head of interiors at BarlisWedlick about up-and-coming trends for 2025, she pinpointed lighting as one of the places this palette cleanser will thrive. Plus, there’s something about a metal, articulating task lamp that gives off serious Nancy Meyers vibes. —Lydia Geisel, home editor

Murano-Influenced Glass

IKEA

ULLSYREN Plant pot

$10

Murano glass has made a comeback in the last few years. We’ve seen it everywhere from chandeliers to tumbler glasses. But the genuine item can be costly. I love that this planter captures the look at an affordable price and that the vessel is simple enough you could use it for more than just potted plants. It’d make a fun water cup or a sweet catchall in an entryway. —Kristen Flanagan, contributing editor

SKOTAT Extension cord

It’s high time for design to come for extension cords, functional accessories that haven’t benefited from a recent makeover. I love how the Hornfels could sit like a little sculpture on a desk, and that the Skotat can find a home in any corner. More cute places to plug into in 2025! —Samantha Weiss-Hills, managing editor

Storage-Rich Nursery Furniture

IKEA

MYLLRA Crib with drawer

IKEA is genius for designing a crib with a built-in drawer. You can stow bedding and sleep sacks underneath and use the freed-up dresser space for all the cute baby clothes. The trio of turned wood spindles is a nice touch, too. —Lindsey Mather, digital director

Burgundy and Brown Everywhere

I also think any furniture that’s a shade of brown or dark red, like the burgundy Applaryd sectional and the Radviken armchair, are going to have a moment this year. Not only are designers really digging red-brown shades right now, but so are color of the year authorities like Pantone and Behr. —Lydia Geisel, home editor

A Smarter Storage Cabinet

IVÖSJÖN Cabinet with doors

$25

It’s not easy trying to find the perfect storage solution for a smaller apartment bathroom. This vertical storage cabinet is great for narrow spaces. The fact the doors slide up instead of out like regular drawers is handy. You are able to easily find what you are looking for and not have the drawers get stuck from overfilling them. —Belle Morizio, staff photographer

Unusual Lightbulbs

MOLNART LED bulb, cylinder glass/stripe

With so many table lamps, sconces, and overhead lights embracing the exposed look, it’s time to go beyond more basic bulbs. IKEA gets what I mean. See its not one, not two, but three funky-shaped Molnart options, each that would give a fixture (and space) a totally different feel. I’m digging the donut look for a minimalist, modern atmosphere; the mushroom for creating a cozy, cocoon-like vibe. Meanwhile, the cylindrical version doesn’t even look like a bulb at all. —Lindsey DeSimone, senior marketing manager
