Our Top 5 Picks from Parachute

This brand is changing the way we shop for bedding.

Sheets and towels may not seem like the most thrilling things to shop for, but thanks to a brand disrupting the bedding and bath industry, textiles are now anything but boring. Stepping up the game is Parachute, a fast-growing home essentials company based in Venice Beach that offers beautifully designed products at a reasonable price.

Parachute offers premium bedding and bath essentials—think super-cozy bed sheets, duvets and pillows, and insanely fluffy towels and bathrobes. Plus, all of their textiles are Oeko-Tex certified, meaning they’re made without any chemicals or synthetic softeners. If you’re not 100 percent satisfied with your sheets–even after you’ve slept on them–Parachute offers free returns for up to 60 days. P.S. They donate them to Habitat for Humanity.

The Brains Behind the Brand
Ariel Kaye started Parachute in 2014. Years earlier, while shopping for bedding at a big box retailer, she’d found herself surrounded by stacks and stacks of products that all looked the same. Her search for bedding left her confused and frustrated.  She started to do some research. Many consumers remembered where they bought their bedding—a department store or big box retailer—but there wasn’t a brand that was connecting with customers past the point of purchase. As someone who built brands in advertising, she recognized a true business opportunity. Kaye started Parachute with a mission to not only offer the best bedding on the market, but to also inspire a community around sleep, wellness, interior design and more. She created loyalty like no other home textiles brand has done before.
Giving Back
This may be the best part about the company: Parachute prides itself on helping others. They’ve worked social responsibility into their business plan, partnering with the United Nations Foundation’s Nothing But Nets campaign to donate life-saving malaria-prevention bed nets to sub-Saharan Africa (over 20,000 donated so far). Another perk: All fabrics are responsibly manufactured by fairly paid workers in family-owned factories.

Percale Venice Set
Sleep more soundly with Parachute’s signature bedding bundle, the Venice Set—named after the company’s hometown. This fabric is crisp and cool to the touch (perfect for warm summer nights), and has been stonewashed for a super-soft, worn-in texture. (Don’t you want to climb into bed right now?) Available in the brand’s classic, muted hues—white, sand, powder, slate, and navy—the Venice Set includes two pillowcases, a duvet cover, and a fitted sheet.

If you want a little more luxe feel, go for the sateen bedding set. Made in Portugal by some of the world’s best artisans, this fabric is super soft with a subtle luster. You’ll get two pillowcases, a fitted sheet, and a duvet cover (complete with twill ties in all four corners and a hidden rubber button closure to keep it nice and tidy).

Essential Quilt
The name says it all: You need this bedroom staple in your life. The midweight, box-patterned blanket is just right for summer (but also offers plenty of warmth when layered with a duvet). The front is made of 100 percent linen while the reverse is 100 percent percale, so it has that lived-in look coupled with a cozy and cool underside. The color options (white, fog, oatmeal, graphite, and indigo) are designed to complement any of their sheet set hues.

Down Pillows
Now we’re getting to Parachute’s secret sauce: These pillow inserts feature a top notch 750 fill power (a measure of the fluffiness of down) and support your head like a cloud as you drift off. Made with all-natural and responsibly sourced European white down, Parachute offers pillows in three fill options—soft, medium, and firm—so you can find your perfect fit. Need help choosing?
