Not much is known about 443 Greenwich—NYC’s newest celebrity hotspot—besides its impressive roster of A-list residents. The book bindery-turned-luxury condo is situated in New York’s Tribeca neighborhood, and while we’ve gotten glimpses into celebrities’ homes before (remember when Jennifer Lawrence was renting her apartment?) the decor in those images was largely staged.

Now, thanks to a recent makeover by Brooklyn-based boutique interior design and architecture studio Chango & Co., we have a first look into what a real, lived-in home in the coveted building looks like. Created for a young couple about to start a family, the space is clean and modern, with plenty of natural light to keep the apartment airy and relaxed.

The decor adheres to a neutral color palette, relying on small touches of elegance—such as a huge black marble slab in one of the bathrooms—to elevate the design.

Boasting three bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms, the approximately 2,800-square-foot apartment is every bit as luxe as you’d expect from the place housing several of Manhattan’s biggest celebs. We caught up with the design team at Chango & Co. to get the inside scoop on what went into the home’s decor.

What was the overall inspiration behind the space? What were the owners looking for in the new home?

The homeowners are a young, vibrant couple. They both gravitated towards a modern farmhouse style, which we felt played well within this gorgeous and quintessential Tribeca apartment with all of its exposed beams, wide plank waxed wood floors, and fine balance of rustic and sophisticated finishes.

Being that this is a brand new building, did you have to make any major changes?

This development was designed by Cetra Ruddy, and their exceptional attention to detail made our job all the easier. The apartment was a jewel box which only needed furnishing, lighting, and accessories to complement the beauty that was already delivered completed.

We could only wish all developments were as exceptionally finished as this one. The building’s design is rather immaculate so we wanted to embrace the design as it was delivered and just add to it.

From the images that have been released, most units in new condo buildings look exactly the same. How did you create a unique space?

To make this space look custom and unique, we added new light fixtures throughout, changed wall colors, and relied heavily on custom made rugs and furnishings.

This building has been in the news a lot given the number of celebrities who bought homes here. Was privacy a consideration at all with the design?

The building did make privacy a priority and few buildings in the city are as heavily guarded as this one, which is understandable considering it’s not a rare occurrence to share an elevator with Justin Timberlake! Privacy was tackled with lots of motorized window shades, which when drawn at night give complete seclusion to our clients.

What's your favorite moment in the home?

I always tend to be thrilled by the surprise moments, and my surprise moment in this home was that entrance which greets you the moment you get off from the private elevator. Those KW lamps, the brass ceiling light, the sculptural console table—all combined to make a little magic happen.
