Sometimes, even star power isn't enough to sell a home. Rolling Stones guitarist and rock n' roll legend Keith Richards and his wife, Patti Hansen, first listed their Fifth Avenue duplex in March, 2016. The duo, who had purchased the home for $10.5 million just two years prior, originally put the lavish apartment on the market for $12.23 million—per Curbed NY.
While the couple failed to find a buyer the first time around, they're ready to try again—this time with a generous price drop and a brokerage switch to a powerhouse team at Douglas Elliman. Today, one lucky buyer can call Richards' sophisticated Greenwich Village pad home for a cool $11.995 million.
The four bedroom pad was once a part of an Art Deco hotel and boasts four full bathrooms, three separate terraces, hardwood flooring, and open views of the New York City skyline. Since its 2016 debut, the home has undergone an inspiring interiors transformation. Today, the artist's penthouse is decked out in luxe, jewel-toned furnishings and artful light fixtures that complement the structure's Gilded Era attitude.
While there are plenty of options for al fresco entertaining, the home's all-white kitchen makes for a cozy place to cook indoors when chilly NYC temps roll around. The contemporary kitchen includes a breakfast counter, dining nook, and a glass door that opens out onto a private balcony.
The massive master suite features two walk-in closets and an en suite bathroom complete with a double vanity sink and soaking tub.
A leather and bronze-clad staircase leads to the two spacious upper-level bedrooms and a formal sitting room with sweeping views of the city.
And if that wasn’t enough to justify the spread’s steep price tag, the place also boasts a full size laundry room, an indoor air-purifying system, automatic blinds on every window, and of course, a state-of-the art Sonos sound system for rocking out to lots of hi-treb tunes.
