We Keep Spotting Chic Takes on Storage Furniture in All the New Fall Collections

Cooler temperatures are on the way, and you know what that means: You need to find a stash spot for all of the throw blankets you’ve been itching to use. Homes are getting smaller (sorry if we’re just breaking the news to you!) and storage is becoming even harder to come by. Now is the time to get smart about where you tuck away seasonal and surplus items, whether it’s a weighted blanket, a vault of dog toys, or an ever-growing stack of “to be read” books.

Lucky for us all, there are tons of new storage furniture designs dropping ahead of fall that don’t look like they’re hiding a mess of pillows (this is key). We rounded up some of our favorites below.

The Banquette With Under-Cushion Compartments

Sixpenny’s vibe is cool, calm, and collected—natural textiles top sturdy wood designs, and this banquette is no exception. Set it up in the kitchen and fill one cubby with table linens, another with the china you never use, and another with backup pots and pans. There’s plenty of room. 

The Oak Bench With Stylish Shoe Drawers

Shoes have a tendency to multiply, slowly taking over your entryway until you’ve almost tripped at least five times. This bench is great for dropping those extra pairs out of sight, and the Danish cording helps disguise the drawers.

West Elm teamed up with chef Marcus Samuelsson for a collection of furniture, lighting, tableware, textiles, and art, but this bar cabinet tops our list for storage solutions. The lack of hardware on this table makes it look like the rattan drawer is a simple basket just floating there. We love the idea of using it as a nightstand because when you inevitably knock over your cup of water at 3 a.m., you won’t damage the marble top.
