6 Fashion Brands Finally Getting Into the Home Decor Game

It’s about time.

While big fashion houses like Ralph Lauren and Oscar de La Renta have been impressing us for years with their chic takes on everything home, other brands—we’re looking at you, Gucci—have stayed away from that part of the lifestyle space. But that's been changing in 2017.

Since the beginning of the year, we’ve seen several fashion companies announce their entries into the home decor space, and we couldn’t be more excited to include their stylish designs into our homes. Here, we guide you through the six most recent expansions that we’re fawning over.

1. Badgley Mischka

The high fashion duo caused quite the stir this February, when they launched their first ever home collection at New York Fashion Week. Boasting elegant bedding, modern metallic accents, and entire dining collections, the line aims to encompass everything one might need to organize a beautiful (and expensive) home.

Los Angeles-based PTM Images, known primarily for its wall decor, is manufacturing the entire line, most of which will be made in Mexico. Retail prices range from $100 to $10,000, which makes sense to the duo, as their entire premise behind the line was to create items that would stand the test of time.

“So many times in the dressing room, I’ve heard women say, ‘I wish I had a living room that looked like this gown,” said Badgley. “I think there’s a timelessness to it. These are investment pieces that look amazing today, and hopefully in 20 years.”

Think a mix of every fabric you can think of, too: Velour, velvet, and even leather come together to create the classic collection, so you’re bound to find something you’ll truly love, no matter the price point.

2. Vince

The silky soft cashmere and cozy styles you’ve come to know and love from Vince will take the form of uber-comfortable pillows and blankets this fall, when the high fashion luxury brand finally enters the home decor space. The company announced that the opulent designs will be made of the same materials as the brand’s fall collection, and be offered both online and in stores.

What can you expect? A collection of blankets and pillows in four styles: Cable knit in a wool-cashmere blend, fringed in a merino wool-cashmere blend, seed stitch in a wool-cashmere blend, and raw edge in 100 percent boiled cashmere. And while the prices are certainly not for the faint of heart—$275 to $345 for pillows and $595 to $695 for blankets—you can expect to stay warm with these offerings all winter long.

“Given the success of Vince Collective and our position in the market as a purveyor of luxury knitwear, a Vince Home collection is a natural next step for the brand,” Caroline Belhumeur, senior vice president and creative director, told WWD. We couldn’t agree more.

3. Gucci

If you want to make a statement, you need to get your hands on Gucci’s new anti-minimalist foray into home design. The collection will feature everything from cushions and wallpaper to incense and trays. While the lowest you’ll probably spend is about $200 for a scented candle, you won’t need too many of these items to really stand out.

The company posted a series of illustrations on its Instagram account to announce the new venture, and explained the inspiration behind the unique styles: Basically, Creative Director Alessandro Michele wanted to pay homage to the brand’s iconic motifs over the years with the new line. We have to say, you won’t find anything like this anywhere else—so better save up for when the collection hits in September.

4. Vera Bradley

No, this isn’t your mom’s tote: Just a few weeks ago, Vera Bradley took its whimsical prints to the boudoir with a new bedding collection that features a ton of young, fun designs.

The collection features four themes—Falling Flowers, Modern Medley, Signature, and Heirloom Paisley—designed to be mixed and matched as you please, and the best part is, you won’t have to sell your soul to be able to afford them. With prices ranging from $29.99 to 179.99, it’s no wonder most of the pieces are already sold out. But don’t worry: The brand promises to restock as soon as possible.

"Launching our first bedding collection is such an exciting step for Vera Bradley," said Barbara Bradley Baekgaard, co-founder and Chief Creative Officer. "Creating a beautiful and comfortable home that expresses one's personality and lifestyle has always been a passion of mine. The patterns and pieces offered in our new collection will add a gorgeous and creative touch to any home."

Basic? Not you.

5. Anna Sui

Anna Sui’s whimsical, out-there aesthetic makes her perfect for the home decor space, which is why we’re so glad she’s finally announced her plans to create a collection with PBteen.

She told Refinery29, "Since day one, when I opened my original flagship store on Greene Street, people have always asked me where they can buy the furniture in my boutique. My customers want the environment and feeling of the world of Anna Sui, so we're now trying to interpret that for PBteen."

The collection will contain everything from curtains and bedding to artwork and lighting—all infused with Anna’s signature rose and butterfly embellishments, of course. The collection will draw inspiration from both the designer’s current bohemian style, as well as from bedroom pieces she had herself as a teenager. We can’t wait to take a peek into her head when the collection drops in September 2017.

6. Kenzo Takada

Even though Kenzo’s namesake founder retired from the brand in 1999, that doesn’t mean he’s stepped away from the spotlight completely—in fact, he just recently collaborated with renowned French furniture company Roche Bobois to launch a brand new furniture collection.

The designer told Vogue.com of the collaboration, “We first decided to really work around the idea of theater. This became a major inspiration and allowed me to play with the colors and the materials, while incorporating a Japanese touch to the collection.”

The result? A gorgeous array of loud, statement-making patterns, intricately designed pillows and sofas, and distinct ceramic dining accessories that would bring personality to any table. But alas, this unique collab comes at a price: Think $3,000 for a sofa. Ouch.
