Not only are there thousands of different paint colors already out there, but brands add new shades to the mix all the time. Just last week, Color Atelier released seven new limewashes, created in collaboration with Sarah Sherman Samuel, and less than a year ago, Backdrop introduced four swatches including Bada Bing (a fiery red-orange) and Cake Shop (a soft periwinkle). The question then becomes: How does one choose a paint color anymore?

Instead of wading through mountains of fan decks ourselves, we decided to go directly to the experts and ask them an even more pointed question: What paint color have you been dying to try? Each of the three interior designers we spoke with had different answers, but they all happened to be from the same brand, Farrow & Ball. Here’s what they had to say.

This has been on my radar for a long time. I try not to be overly repetitious and like to branch out to all facets of the paint deck. Color excites me and conjures the opportunity to really personalize a space. —Laura Collins, designer and founder of For Porter

Lately, I’ve been drawn to yellow tones. I would love to paint kitchen cabinets in Farrow & Ball’s Babouche, a bold and cheerful yellow. It would create the most vibrant and happy kitchen—perfect for bringing energy into the space. —Danielle Fennoy, designer and founder of Revamp

I think this would be gorgeous as a trim for a rich-toned wallpaper or full gloss on a door. —Annie Sullivan, designer and cofounder of Sullivan Matthews
