There is nothing that can stand between a determined renovator and a DeVol kitchen faucet. We’ve seen homeowners opt for fewer cabinets just to make room in their budget for the old world–inspired taps. In fact, people love them so much, they usually aren’t willing to leave them behind. “I’m convinced if we ever move to another house, I will be taking these faucets with me!” one renovator, who owns two of the U.K.-based brand’s products, told us.
But what if you just can’t wrap your head around spending the $1,200 it takes to have the popular aged brass Ionian tap in your space? Fortunately, a number of companies are making brass faucets that look fairly similar—or, at least, have the same super-traditional vibe—to DeVol’s. We spotted one in our Topanga Canyon home tour that is from IKEA.
Homeowners and Canyon Ceramics Co. founders Danielle Hutchens and Dana Seagraves got scrappy with their kitchen renovation, piecing together the backsplash tile from samples and sourcing their large pantry cabinet from Facebook Marketplace. When we asked them about their plumbing upgrade, they revealed their classic, charming faucet is a Glittran product from IKEA—and it’s only $118.
This is by no means a DeVol dupe. Sure, it shares a curved neck and hints of white on the handle, but it only has one connection point, whereas the Ionian tap famously has two. IKEA’s version also doesn’t come with that covetable patina finish that makes it look like it’s been in your house for decades. However, what it lacks in character, it makes up for in sustainability: The piece features an integrated aerator that keeps the water flow steady, helping to limit waste and energy consumption.
These four other traditional brass faucets are high on our list for a budget-friendly kitchen reno, too.
