We’re gearing up for the stylish spring launch of the
Whitney Museum of American Art’s lower Manhattan outpost!

As the May 1st opening of the new Whitney Museum of American Art—located in the notoriously artsy Meatpacking District of New York City—fast approaches, fashion house Max Mara, are planning to celebrate in style! As long-time supporters of the museum (fun fact: most of Max Mara’s pre-fall looks were inspired by the museum’s permanent collection!) it’s no surprise the luxury brand is hosting the official opening-party.

The new Whitney building—designed by famed Italian architect Renzo Piano and nestled between the High Line and the Hudson River—boasts over 50,000 square feet of indoor galleries and 13,000 of outdoor space, making it the largest [column-free] museum in the entire city.

In homage, Max Mara will be throwing a fete for the ages, complete with specialized cuisine from acclaimed chef Nick Anderer, as well as several other surprises drawing from the museum’s eclectic palette.  Says Max Mara chairman Luigi Maramotti: “We are true admirers of the unique approach that the Museum has committed itself to in fostering contemporary art in the United States, with an organic passion and an open minded point of view for the international art scene.”
