We’ll pretty much welcome any excuse to shop… and when that excuse comes in the form of a formal sale event, we love it all the more. While the mayhem of Black Friday somewhat sours the joy of finding a bargain (the 10th circle of hell may well be a Target store the day after Thanksgiving), we’re all for big savings presented in an organized manner. Which is why Wayfair’s announcement of Way Day—a 24-hour massive sale on everything from furniture to outdoor decor—is so exciting.
Beginning at midnight on Wednesday, April 25, Wayfair is offering what they’re dubbing “Black Friday-low prices” for one day only. Shop from over 70,000 items, all from the comfort of your sofa, bed, or the waiting room at your dentist’s office.
The inaugural Way Day event includes both reduced prices sitewide, as well as door-busting deals launching every six hours. There’s free shipping on all orders (seriously), and if you have a Wayfair credit card, you stand to benefit even more. Shop on Way Day to earn triple rewards on all purchases made on your card—and if you don’t have a card, sign up for one now to get $40 off your next order of $250 or more.
By creating the sales event, Wayfair hopes to even out the holiday shopping calendar. “We are looking to put a new retail holiday on the map that celebrates home,” said Steve Oblak, Wayfair’s chief merchandising officer, in a statement. “With the launch of Way Day, we’re offering the steepest savings possible at a time of year that makes the most sense.”
And while you can indeed shop from a vast selection of goods that you’ll get use out of year-round, the emphasis here appears to be on spring and summer goods. Wayfair is staying mum about the specifics of the products they’ll be offering leading up to the 25th, but Oblak says he hopes the event incites excitement about the upcoming seasons.
“Spring is the season when our customers are especially focused on sprucing up and furnishing outdoor spaces in anticipation of warm weather and summer entertaining. Many are also readying their homes for sale, or moving into new ones,” he continued in the statement.
So, even though we don’t know which actual products will be on super sale during Way Day, we do have an idea of the items to start adding to your shopping list in the lead-up to the event, just in case. If you fall into the latter camp of Oblak’s shopper demographic and are indeed looking to sell your home, consider this your chance to shop for products that will increase your house’s value. For example, chef-grade kitchen appliances—a number of which are already on sale on Wayfair’s website. Or, you can DIY a meditation nook (another home feature that’ll make it sell for more) by picking up a made-for-yoga Turkish bath towel or simple cube bookcase in which to store things like pillows or water bottles.
Looking to spruce up your outdoor space? Wayfair has pretty much every patio or balcony-related item you could ask for. From a vibrant turquoise bistro dining set that’ll add a pop of color to your outside area to a rustic-looking potting bench perfect for all gardening aficionados, there’s plenty we’re hoping will make the Way Day list. Excuse us while we mark our calendars for the 25th.
