Fall is in full swing at Camille Styles’s Austin home; the wreath has been hung, the fire is crackling, the cider is on the stove. You wouldn’t know by the looks of it, but the lifestyle blogger pulled off this autumn refresh on a super-reasonable budget, thanks to pieces from Target’s brand-new decor collection.
Outside, amber garlands, pumpkins, and hay bales offer a “nod to the classic farmhouse vibe” she loves so much, while inside, Styles peppered her living room with softer elements like velvet throw pillows and Hearth & Hand linens. The design pro took us behind the scenes of her latest home makeover and shared her tips for crafting the perfect front entrance, a few low-lift entertaining ideas, and four of her seasonal decor staples.
Scale Up Your Foliage
Styles’s spacious stoop is a double-edged sword. There’s more opportunity to get creative, but covering all that surface area can be challenging. “I’ve found that little decorative items end up getting lost,” she says. In place of votive candles and tiny gourds, she opted to “up the curb appeal” with a giant swag of faux foliage. Styles linked the individual garlands together with wire and fastened them around the doorframe with jumbo command hooks.
Decorate as You Would Indoors
To really fill out the porch (and create a sense of symmetry, to boot), Styles moved two fake olive trees (also from Target) outside from her guest room. “Switching things up from room to room is the quickest way to give your space a facelift,” she shares. Not to mention, free! Lanterns, blanket baskets, and side tables can also live out on the patio when the weather is nice.
Encourage Guests to Help Themselves
When it comes to hosting, Styles swears by big-batch cocktails and self-serve grazing boards so she can actually enjoy the party with her guests. Her go-to punch this fall is a twist on traditional cider; she marinates Riesling, lemon juice, and sliced red and green apples in the refrigerator (for up to four hours) and garnishes the mixture with star anise.
While we all anxiously await out invites, shop Styles’s other picks from Target’s fall collection:
The Wreath
Styles hung her goldenrod wreath on the front door, but it could easily live over the fireplace if your mantel is in need of some pizzazz.
The Candle
The blogger is a big fan of “stovetop potpourri.” Basically, throw all your favorite fruit and spices into a pot with water and simmer it over low heat until your house smells like autumnal goodness. Although, if that sounds too taxing, this applewood and amber candle is up to the task.
The Pillow
If you’re not keen on anything too theme-y (or anything with words on it), try this embroidered rust-colored option.
The Blanket
This chunky cable-knit throw can follow you anywhere: the living room sofa, the bedroom, the balcony…infinite possibilities for getting cozy.
