You don’t have to be a Stranger Things fan to know what happens in season one, episode three. The moment when Joyce Byers (played by Winona Ryder) swathes her walls in colorful string lights to communicate with her missing son, who is trapped in the Upside Down, has become iconic on its own. We can’t think of a better place to be on Halloween than her living room during this scene and, apparently, neither can anyone else.

According to Pinterest’s fall trends report, the hit Netflix series is being searched for left and right for October 31. In addition to Stranger Things group costumes (searches are up +653 percent), inquiries for show-themed Halloween decorations have jumped +549 percent, surpassing other trending ideas like boho bar carts and front yard cemeteries. In other words, everyone and their mother will be dressing up like Demogorgons and snacking on Eggo waffles this holiday.

While you could re-create the arcade or Mike Wheeler’s basement for your celebration, the Christmas lights scene is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser and by far the easiest to pull off. You really only need three things: multicolored bulbs (for a true likeness, tack them to the wall and drape them from the ceiling), black letters to create the alphabet (draw out your own or print cutout versions), and a yellow-and-white–striped blanket to tuck into the sofa. Bonus points if your living room has floral wallpaper. Commit to this year’s most popular decorating idea and your party will go down as an 11 out of 10.
