It’s nearly summer, y’all! Get out there and enjoy! But with sun-soaked summer comes hot temps, melting makeup, and flat hair. Good thing we chatted with a few pros at Sephora in order to see which items they’re picking up ASAP, just in time for “Summer, summer, summertime…”

This is part of our new series where we ask the experts what they’re buying—from beauty to haircare to skincare, and everything in between.

SKINCARE

“If you’re very conscious about the ingredients in your products and are looking for a new skincare must-have, I highly recommend the Biossance Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil ($72),” says David Razzano, Sephora PRO Artist. “It’s part of the new Clean at Sephora category, so it doesn’t have a ton of the ingredients I know my clients are always looking to avoid—like sulfates, parabens, formaldehyde—and it’s great for all skin types. The oil feels so luxe, and you don’t need to use a lot to get the brightening, firming, and even skin tone benefits it provides.”

“A good tip to make your makeup last longer in the warm months to come is using a setting spray,” says Jeffrey English, Sephora PRO Artist. (Ed note: We’re big fans!) “Cover FX’s High Performance Setting Spray ($31) locks in makeup for up to 24 hours, and has next-level pollution protection. It doesn’t contain alcohol, which I love, because it dries so fast and feels so weightless on the skin. It will definitely keep any foundation, concealer, contour, etc. in place without feeling sticky or greasy.”

“Now that it’s summer and you’ll likely be spending more time outside, it’s important to keep your skin hydrated,” says Razzano. “Sephora Collection’s new After Sun Mask ($5) is my new go-to sheet mask. It quenches skin and provides a boost of hydration to the face, while also perfecting your sun-kissed glow.”

“The number one tip I always share with my clients is to never leave home without sunscreen,” says Razzano. “Supergoop!’s Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 ($32) is completely weightless because it doesn’t have oil in it, so you won’t feel greasy or look shiny. It’s also really cool because it contains red algae that helps protect against the harmful effects of blue light (the type of light in our phones and computers), and it’s made with the cleanest ingredients.”

HAIRCARE

“If you’re looking for a hair product that you can use at the beach, try Ouai’s Sun of a Beach Ombré Spray ($24),” says Myiesha Sewell, Sephora PRO Artist. “It has a heat-activated lemon-coconut water formula, so it smells amazing, and brightens and lightens hair while keeping it hydrated.”

MAKEUP

“If you’re into metallics, I recommend trying the new shades that the Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain ($14) line launched just in time for summer,” says Sewell. “The formula is so silky and lasts for hours, so you don’t have to worry about reapplying throughout the day.”

“I’m all about a strong brow this summer,” says English. “Sephora Collection’s Beau Brow ($12) has a lightweight formula that transforms from cream to powder, and it’s super flexible, so you can achieve the right amount of volume in a few quick swipes.”

“If you want to make your eyes pop, try Fenty Beauty’s new Island Bling 2-in-1 Liquid Eye Shimmer ($26),” says Sewell. “It’s a liquid eyeshadow that is quick and easy to apply. The sleek, metallic shades are great to wear alone or layered with each other, and provide the perfect amount of shimmer for any look.”

“If you’re looking for a new mascara that will also hydrate your lashes, try MILK Makeup’s KUSH High Volume Mascara ($24),” says English. “It hydrates every lash with its nourishing cannabis oil formula, and gives long-lasting volume, length, and curl. Not only will your lashes look healthier, but they’ll also be clump-free.”
