This photo was taken on the Cliff Walk, a 3.5 mile walkway along the shoreline. Walk past famous mansions, through tunnels and along winding pathways while you take in salty ocean air and stunning views. It is a must see. #newportri #locallyinspired
Newport is famous for it’s Gilded Age mansions. One of my favorites is Rosecliff. This is a view of the ceiling in the ballroom. It also happens to be one of the only mansions still available for private rental, you can get married in here!
If you’re in the mood for shopping, it’s easy to get lost in @farmaesthetics. Located on Bellevue Ave., it’s completely natural and sustainable skincare produced in Rhode Island.
One of my favorite places to grab a drink (outside when the weather is nice) is Diego’s. Located in Bowen’s Wharf it’s a great spot for drinks and apps after a day of exploring town.
The Redwood Library and Athenaeum is the oldest lending library in the entire country. It houses incredible collections of rare books, sculptures, furniture and paintings. It is a membership based library but parts of it are open to the public.
Family owned for over 30 years the iconic @brickalleypub is a must stop when visiting Newport. Their lobster roll is award winning and I love their yellow and white striped awnings.
My favorite neighborhood in town, the Point neighborhood, is known for it’s historic homes, many dating as far back as the 1600s and 1700s.
On the weekends I love to walk around and admire all the front doors. They’re always well adorned for the seasons.
Also located in the Point neighborhood is one of my favorite shops to visit, Cottage & Garden. They have everything from antique garden tools to vintage furniture, decor like chandeliers, mirrors and paintings spanning mutiple eras. They have the best succulents around too.
There is so much to do in Newport and each season has unique and beautiful aspects whether you want to spend time on the beach, admiring fall foliage or cozying up by the fire on a snowy day in the winter. As you cross the bridge onto the island, you can’t help but feel a bit as though you’re stepping back in time. @jessannkirby #newportri #locallyinspired
