IKEA is making big moves. Okay, well, technically you’ll be the one making big moves, but the Swedish retailer wants to lend a hand. The company just announced the launch of Ombyte, a new limited-edition collection of funky totes, stackable crates, psychedelic tape, and other products designed to make packing up and moving house an infinitely chicer experience.
“We wanted to make moving practical but also fun by adding colors, patterns, and expressions to plain-looking moving essentials—this also means you won’t have to move to have them in your home,” James Futcher, creative leader of IKEA, said in a statement.
The collection, which officially launches in U.S. stores on July 15, is equipped with everything you’d need to pull off an effortless move, even a cheetah-print packing table and a hot pink cart for rolling bulky furniture. Then there’s the pièce de résistance: the cardboard boxes. The cartons retail for $4.99, but don’t let that deter you. Printed with black-and-white zigzags, psychedelic beetles, falling blocks, and other punchy graphics, these definitely aren’t your average single-use boxes. Once you’ve settled in, repurpose them as permanent storage until your next move. Your neighbors will hate to see you go, but they’ll love to watch you leave.
