Hi All! I am Patti (@patticakewagner), a Sr. Designer for @Target in Minneapolis, MN. I’ve lived all over but now call this beautiful city home with my husband and daughter but soon it will be the four of us since I am expecting baby #2! Minnesota may be known for the cold winters but it’s such a lovely place during the other three seasons. Everyone is out and about and we never take nice weather for granted! Minneapolis is a thriving creative hub filled with so much charm and I’m excited to give you a little tour of some of my favorite local spots in my neighborhood of Linden Hills.
1927 Tudor
After a very long search, my husband and I bought a fixer upper (#1927tudor) a few years ago in Linden Hills and have not looked back. It was important for us that we lived in a neighborhood that we admire with everything within walking distance because we love being out and about without the hassle of driving. We have been renovating our house since we moved in and although it has been a ton of work because we’ve done a lot of it ourselves, we don’t regret it one bit.
Turtle Bread
First stop of the day is at @turtlebreadmn, a bakery and restaurant with so much goodness! My favorite is the caramel roll and they’re also known for their tomato soup. And how gorgeous is their embossed ceiling?! Definitely a great place to start your day.
Lake Harriet
After our bellies are satisfied, we can stroll to Lake Harriet to walk off all the calories. It has a walk + bike path around the entire lake and we find ourselves having endless conversations as we soak in the scene. There is also the bandshell at the lake with ongoing concerts and events. Of course, we can’t leave without grabbing ice cream at the lake restaurant @BreadandPickle.
Honeyshine
Once we’ve burned off some calories, we like to head to Linden Hills downtown to hit up the local shops. One of my favorites is @honeyshinempls. They have lots of great unique finds featuring local artists and so much eye candy with their visual merchandising.
Wild Rumpus
We love taking our daughter to @wildrumpusbooksmpls, a children’s bookstore, with the most awesome interior. Actually, this place is amazing for both kids and adults!
LH Farmers Market
Every Sunday from Spring through Fall, there’s the @LindenHillsFarmMarketwhere we enjoy trying out different varieties of food from the stands and food trucks. We usually go home with a bag full of veggies, fruits and fresh flowers!
Tilia
One of our favorite restaurants in the city is hands down @Tiliampls. The atmosphere and service are wonderful but it’s their food that makes us want to eat here every week if we could! This is from our brunch there and I recommend their Fish Taco Torta with the Reverse Bloody Mary (non-alcoholic for me). Stop by for brunch, lunch or dinner and you’ll see why this is a neighborhood favorite.
Brown and Greene
Our house is filled with plants and flowers so we are lucky to live close to a nursery and floral shop. Although it has been in the neighborhood for 25 years, I just discovered the floral shop @bgfloralmpls where they have the most beautiful selections of hand picked succulents and potted plants. This is a potted hydrangea I snatched up while I was there and it was the most perfect plant I had ever seen!
Lake Calhoun
Before heading home, make sure to catch the sunset at Lake Calhoun. During the day, this lake is filled with activities and everyone just seems so happy here. It’s a little calmer as the sun sets but the scene is still breathtaking. Thank you so much for following along! It has been a pleasure sharing some of my neighborhood favorites with you. Drop me a line if you’re ever in town or follow along @patticakewagner to see more of the way we live in the mini city of Minneapolis along with our house projects and my design work.
