Ever wish there was a fun, adventurous, and educational way to teach your kids about global cuisine and nutrition? Well, thanks to former first lady Michelle Obama, there soon will be. This week she announced the arrival of her new kids’ show, Waffles + Mochi, coming to Netflix March 16.

The program stars puppets Waffles and Mochi as they travel around the world to fulfill their dream of becoming chefs. Along the way they meet famous foodies (Samin Nosrat and José Andrés, to name a few), celebrities (Tan France, Mandy Moore, Rashida Jones, and more), and Obama herself, who plays a grocery store owner. From Seoul to Peru, the mini gourmands explore new ingredients and recipes. “In many ways, this show is an extension of my work to support children’s health as first lady—and to be quite honest, I wish a program like this had been around when my girls were young,” Obama said on Instagram. “Kids will love it, but I know that adults will also get plenty of laughs—and some tips for the kitchen.”
The best part? Waffles + Mochi is collaborating with Partnership for a Healthier America to provide fresh ingredients to families across the country affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. So get your pots and pans ready; we’re betting that after just one episode, the entire family will want to whip up otherworldly cuisine.
