Here at domino, we’re always on the lookout for the latest design trends, seeking inspiration through a variety of mediums and diverse sources. Feeding into our insatiable shopping addiction, we justify our vice with the intentions of it being market research. On one such excursion, we happened upon the recently opened Lou & Grey shop in NYC’s Flatiron district. There, a captivating yet understated design scheme emulated the brand’s spotlight on embracing comfort within luxury. Take a peek at just a few of our many favorite moments from the shop!
Inspired by the idea of embracing the aesthetic of the local community, the decor of the shop features elements from local NYC staples. An original mural by New York-based artist and designer Caroline Z. Hurley paints a lively backsplash, complementing the store’s charming and effortlessly chic finish.
From LES favorite, The Sill, an assortment of lively greens outfit the stairway leading up to the design studio, located at the second floor of the shop. Dreamy as it may be, it’s off-limits to the rest of us!
The inaugural design studio – a first for the brand, within the store -will stand in as a creative space for Lou & Grey’s design team, allowing them to connect directly with the consumers to source inspiration for upcoming collections. Here, a mood board channeling the aesthetic behind the Fall 2016 collection, spans across an entire wall of the studio, where the team meets weekly!
A curated selection of Lou & Grey’s newest collection sits on a copper clothing rack in the studio, offering shoppers a glimpse of what is to come! Channeling the brand’s “So.Crazy.Soft.” fall campaign, we spotted plenty of cozy textures in shades of reinvented neutrals.
Our favorite part of the shop would have to be the fitting room! Clad in the oh-so-trendy shade of millennial pink, the luxuriously textured space features floating linen curtains, pink velvet stools, and lustrous copper fixtures.
Vibrant greens from The Sill instill a complementary pop of color to the decor, sitting within the custom-made Eric Trine planters!
Subtle copper details, from the suspended clothing racks to the hangers, provide a glam element accentuating the warmth of the neutrally-colored mural on the backdrop.
The shop plans on featuring a number of collaborations throughout the year, including beauty brand CAP Beauty.
Consider it the stationery-lover’s dream. This vibrant nook features a selection of notebooks, journals, and inspired paper goods, conveniently coupled with a very sink-worthy seat.
