Wedding postponements, Zoom ceremonies, and stoop celebrations are the new normal when it comes to getting married in 2020. One romantic tradition, though, is still alive and well: engagements. And celebrities have been getting engaged in droves. The most recent? Lily Collins

Over the weekend, Collins’s boyfriend, director Charlie McDowell, proposed on a nature-filled road trip to New Mexico. The couple shared matching Instagram photos spilling the happy news, and while the landscape was certainly eye-catching, we couldn’t help but notice a different kind of rock: her ring.

Designed by Irene Neuwirth, the bespoke, rose-cut diamond looks to be the subtlest shade of pink and set against a thick gold band with vintage vibes. According to fine jewelry designer Caitlin Mociun, nontraditional rings are quite common these days. “I have a good amount of clients looking for unique and antique-style stones,” Mociun tells Domino, citing her old European cuts as best-sellers.

As for the future? Mociun predicts multi-gem styles with round center stones will continue to be popular, with more of her clients than usual inquiring about the shape. It won’t be until 2021 that wedding guests can see these unusual rings in real life. Until then, gazing at Collins’s ring will just have to do.
