Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell just picked up a home in the Laughlin Park area of Los Feliz, and the 4,050-square-foot house comes with its own celebrity bragging rights. Designed in 1922 by famed architect Arthur R Kelly—who is also responsible for a little-known piece of real estate called the Playboy Mansion—the property is the second largest in the enclave. It’s beaten only by the Cecil B. DeMille estate, which was recently sold to Angelina Jolie.
This means that for a rumored $4.3 million, the couple gets four bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms—but they also get to call one half of the world’s most famous celeb couple (too soon?) their neighbor. Not too shabby.
The secluded property is nestled behind two gated entrances and tons of trees for optimum privacy. Outside, beautiful gardens and lawns offer ample space to enjoy the warm California weather. A combined pool and spa sits on an expansive patio, and is ideal for summer entertaining.
While these images are older and might not reflect the current interior, they do offer some insight into the storied English Revival home. Quaint features provide an old-school charm to the residence, starting with the rustic green doors that welcome you into the entryway. They open up into a grand living room that includes a built-in fireplace and plenty of natural light.
A formal dining room opens up into the backyard and flows into the kitchen, which has a more informal dining nook, as well as country-style pale yellow cabinetry. While they might seem dated on their own, when paired with modern stainless steel appliances and a pretty, terra cotta-esque tiled floor, the overall effect is more charming than antiquated.
Upstairs, a master suite includes a spacious bathroom and two balconies. On the lowest level, a converted workspace also doubles as a rec room.
