What do makeup and interior design have in common? At first glance, not a whole lot. Now, a new collection created by Jonathan Adler in collaboration with Clinique is set to change that perception.

“Makeup and design offer the power to transform your mood,” says Adler in a video describing the limited edition collection.   That transformative power is evident throughout the line, which was created as an homage to Adler’s favorite seaside destinations to transport the wearer to the most glamorous locales in the world. The Clinique x Jonathan Adler Collection includes Clinique staples—such as lip, lid, and cheek pops—in a variety of bright and bold colors. To mimic the feeling of being at the beach and produce a collection that screams summer, Adler chose crisp, fresh shades and named them after his favorite holiday getaways: Capri, Santorini, and Palm Beach.

“Jet-set glamour,” says Adler when asked about the inspiration behind the colorful collab. “I always think about iconic destinations. Places where women look like their most glamorous selves. I wanted to capture that in makeup. I thought about being in fabulous places: Palm Beach, Florida. Capri, Italy. Santorini, Greece.”

The result is a collection that, in Adler’s own words, “feels like jumping into the Mediterranean Sea” and incorporates the design elements the designer himself is known for. The immaculately-designed packaging imprints his signature geometric patterns onto makeup and incorporates tiny details that blend his personality with classic Clinique products.

“[Clinique has] always been in my life. I grew up with it in my mother’s and sister’s cabinets,” says Adler of working with the iconic beauty brand. “My brand is very similar. We’re both about being classic, chic and refreshing.”

Adler, who began with pottery and opened his first store in Soho in 1998, has since expanded his eponymous brand to a truly global company with 30 stores around the world. He’s worked on a number of interior design projects—most notably including the Parker Palm Springs Hotel and Abington House on New York City’s High Line—and is no stranger to creating iconic style himself.

“I call my style modern American glamour. I always try to keep things fresh and new and modern,” says Adler. “One of the lines in my manifesto is “We believe in irreverent luxury” and that captures a lot of what I’m about.”

In addition to a range of makeup products, the designer’s partnership with Clinique also features a luxe brush collection in silver and pink and a skincare kit that includes a Sonic Brush and foaming facial soap. As with the rest of the collection, the packaging includes vibrant and modern patterns. Skincare never looked so chic.

The collection is available now for a limited time on clinique.com and is ideal for anyone looking to add some summery touches to their beauty routines. Prices range from $20 to $89.50.
