When you want your kitchen to look especially elevated, you can’t go wrong with a zellige tile. The Morocco-originated material continues to be a favorite of designers, and, more recently, another covetable celebrity kitchen proves that this backsplash essential can do no wrongespecially when paired with a chic metallic contrast.

In a photo she shared of her 12-year-old daughter, Honor, Jessica Alba gave a glimpse at her minimalist yet textured cooking space by Clements Design. Glossy white zellige tiles stretch from counter to ceiling, and above the Lacanche range is a wide brass hood. The two design elements look sleek on their own, but together they make a more dramatic statement, complementing Alba’s classic marble countertops and Farrow & Ball Down Pipe–painted cabinets.

The design idea isn’t limited to an expansive space: Custom-order a range to fit perfectly above your stove, tile the backsplash in a monochrome design that plays up texture, paint your cabinets in an earthy neutral, and you’ll have a refined space of your own. The right materials make a world of difference.
