Last week, during Ikea’s 4th annual Democratic Design Days event, the brand unveiled a whole slew of new product collections and collaborations—among them, Adidas, LEGO Group, and Byredo, to name a few—to launch in the coming years. The event capped off with the announcement of a partnership with Saint Heron, the multidisciplinary hub and creative initiative led by Solange Knowles.
The collaboration is centered around the intent of what has been described as the exploration of “architectural and interior design objects with multifunctional use.” As the intimate details of the partnership are still very much in the conceptual stage and heavily under wraps, we’re keenly awaiting news of a tangible product.
”Contemporary art is a huge part of people’s life [sic] today. At IKEA we are curious about the creative space in between architecture, design, art and music and how that could come alive in the homes of the many people,” said Marcus Engman, Head of Design at IKEA Range & Supply, in a statement in regards to what the two brands hope to achieve together.
Given that Saint Heron’s objectives that are centered around music, visual and performance art, we’re guessing that the collaboration will manifest itself in complementary form. And while only time will tell what the highly-coveted partnership will entail, considering the two key brands at play here, it’s safe to say that it’s going to be a good one.
