When you hear the word hygge, what comes to mind? For most, it’s cozying up over the winter months. The Danish way of living that sparked a trend in warm, stress-free spaces definitely makes most of us want to curl up in front of the fire with an extra blanket and a good book. But while hygge can be ideal for the colder months, Reena of @hygge_for_home believes it’s a way of life that can be embraced all year long. Even in the outdoors, there are ways to create an intimate, charming space. This weekend, the Cardiff-based blogger took over the Domino Instagram to share some of the ways her own home embraces this comfy, relaxed way of life—and how you can, too.

Bring on the warm materials

Just because the weather is getting warmer doesn’t necessarily mean you need to shy away from using warmer materials and finishes in your home. Take Reena’s kitchen, for example. The space feels lived-in and comfortable, thanks to the natural wood tabletop, brass accents and textured decor. And of course, those iconic Ikea rugs are the epitome of hygge.

Houseplants everywhere

Adding a bit of greenery to your home with some fresh houseplants is one of the easiest ways to not only breathe life into a space, but add a touch of personal comfort as well. So instead of overlooking your tiny bathroom, give it some extra TLC in the form of a few plants and soothing candles.

Load up the texture outside

Since hygge is a way of life, no one ever said it had to be confined to the indoors. We love the way Reena layers textures in her outdoor space. The pillows are the perfect finishing touch.
