When the CFO of Cherry Berry Paper hired interior decorator Amie Corley  to remodel her St. Louis family home, she sought inspiration at the graphic design firm she works for, specializing in fresh-faced stationery.

The kitchen’s banquette, whose table is topped in an aqua-beaded chandelier, provides an opportunity to have fun with graphic patterns in shades of blue.

Adventures in remodeling the 3500 sq ft suburban house (circa-1990’s) began in the heart of the home: the eat-in kitchen.

“The homeowner grew up summering on the Jersey Shore, so I wanted to give it that coastal vibe, without feeling too out of place in landlocked Missouri,” says Corley.

The once-dark cabinetry was refreshed with

but the seaside blues—from the aqua found in the chandelier to the navy on the island’s base—brought the kitchen’s design home.

Gold hardware refreshes cabinets in the kitchen, where the piece de resistance is the custom navy island.

A warm white grasscloth wall covering adds textural interest and spatial definition to the dining room, which is centered about a sculptural chandelier.

“THE UNIFYING FACTOR IS MOSTLY WHITE WALLS. THERE’S A LOT OF COLOR AND PATTERN ELSEWHERE; I WANTED TO KEEP THE WALLS QUIET.”—says Corley

Emerald-green panel-silhouettes and shelf-backs add a pop of color to the home office. Accenting in blush (those chairs) is so now.

Soft grey walls are the perfect foil to the bold gold-framed bed in the master bedroom. The Ikat lumbar ties the décor together.

It was definitely a starting point for us,” says Corley, adding, “The homeowner has found her sense of style since working there… Every day, she’s surrounded by all this great paper, color, and pattern.”

Blues continue into the living room’s velvet tufted sofa, though other playful colors, like fuchsia dining room curtains, or emerald-green home office shelf-backs, add further vibrancy to the décor.“

The aesthetic of the company’s stationery is crisp, yet feminine; whimsical, with bright colors and fun patterns,” continues Corley, who skillfully layered in these elements with respect to upholstery, wallpaper, curtains, art, and other furnishings.

But Corley was sure to balance the overall design scheme with neutral selections, including metals.

The favorite metal, of course, is gold. “Most of the stationary has gold foil in it!” adds Corley.

The living room is a tad more masculine and structured that the other rooms, but the jute rug and linen curtains keep it casual.
