When you think of your ideal house, what do you imagine? A swimming pool framed by enough comfortable loungers for all your friends and family? A sprawling porch dotted with rocking chairs to pass the time? Of course, you can’t forget the fireplace in the living room, the perfect backdrop for evenings both quiet and raucous. Fittingly, it’s the detail that stands out the most in HGTV’s 2020 Dream Home, which you can now enter to win (the total prize is valued at more than $2 million).

Located in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, and designed by Brian Patrick Flynn, the three-bedroom, four-bath house is beachy to a T; different shades of blue abound, as do driftwood and rattan. But the living room’s textured fireplace surround is made of a substance we don’t often see. Called a tabby finish, the traditionally coastal material is equal parts lime, sand, and oyster shells, ensuring the space is breezy but still modern.

So cross your fingers that you’ll be the lucky winner—or take matters into your own hands and use this as renovation inspiration for the place you already call home. There’s no need to go crazy with seashell decor to make your space feel like paradise—a subtler approach does the trick.
