Etsy is making it easier than ever to get into crafting. The online marketplace has officially launched a supply store called Etsy Studio, and it’s about to become your one-stop shop for both craft supplies and project inspiration.
According to CEO Chad Dickerson, creating an online craft store seemed like a natural next step for the virtual flea market-esque company. “We saw a market that was really lacking in joy and inspiration, and we feel like we’re really uniquely qualified to bring that,” Dickerson told TechCrunch in February.
Businesses will be able to sell supplies to other Etsy users —after paying a fee for their listing— and join the “Etsy Economy” comprised of sellers from 99.9 percent of U.S. counties. At launch, there are nearly 8 million craft supplies available encompassing everything from the basics to one-of-a-kind handmade and vintage supplies. Finding what you’re looking for is easy, too, thanks to extremely specific filters in each product category and a pinch-and-zoom feature that gives shoppers a closer look.
But what separates Etsy Studio from other craft stores is the unique “projects” section. This is where you can find detailed craft tutorials at every skill level that include links to the exact items you will need. Those items are, of course, available directly on Etsy Studio, making for a streamlined DIY experience from product purchase to actually creating your masterpiece.
As of right now there are about 70 original craft projects on the site, with new tutorials added weekly. If you’re looking for a weekend project, we recommend this gorgeous DIY driftwood jewelry organizer or this custom cutting board that will make the perfect addition to your kitchen.
Whether you’re looking to take on a new decor project or simply just want some colored jute twine (as you do), one thing’s for sure: your DIY projects are about to get a lot easier.
