It’s no surprise that Kellie Brown is a multi-hyphenate. As the creative behind the blog–turned–global community And I Get Dressed, she’s focused on making fashion, beauty, home, and beyond inclusive of all body types, and now with a viral hashtag under her belt (#FatAtFashionWeek), a home decor Instagram account (where she documents her impressive vintage finds), and a podcast on the way, Brown is busier than ever before. This week the style icon found time to chat with Domino’s editor-in-chief, Jessica Romm Perez, on Design Time, covering everything from her favorite furniture style to why she’s pushing for more size diversity in the home space. “You really do need to function in the body that you’re in,” Brown notes. “You need to be happy, and things need to be accessible. They just do.” (Listen to the episode, out today on Spotify and Apple Podcasts, to hear more.)

Brown also took a moment to discuss what’s inspiring her right now, from her favorite color to the size-inclusive fashion designer she can’t get enough of. Read on for a peek.

My Favorite Color

“I have a lot of blue in my home. I just bought a blue bowl from an estate sale a couple weeks ago, and it makes me really happy to look at it.”

My Material of the Moment

“I like things that are sort of imperfect. My desk is marble—it’s a marble monster. But it’s a bit flawed, and it has all these weird red and peachy flecks, which I love.”

The Design Object I’m Loving

“My favorite thing is my New Yorker print. I stare at it a lot. I notice that when I’m sitting at my desk, about to do an Instagram story, I’ll swivel my chair so that the print is in view. Everything about it is perfect to me.”

My Dream Destination

“I can’t wait to go back to London. It’s one of my favorite cities, and I have a lot of friends there. The Ned in London is outrageous.”

My Plant Pick

“There’s one in my bedroom and one in my kitchen; the leaves are pink and green! I pick my plants based on my connection to what they look like.”

My Wind-Down Routine

“Washing my face is my actual heaven. At the end of the day, washing off my makeup allows me to relax. Even if I didn’t wear makeup that day, I still feel like I’m washing off the day. And then, from there, probably putting on music and being still.”

My Feel-Good Music

“It’s shocking how random my musical tastes are. I think it’s because my dad was a musician. My playlists are classic rock; I love Stevie Nicks, like everyone, but I also love Queen, the Doors, Jimi Hendrix—all that stuff.”

My (Fashion) Design Hero

“All of my favorite designers whose work I admire don’t necessarily make my size. I think someone who actually is size-inclusive and does amazing work is Christian Siriano.”

My (Furniture) Design Hero

“Milo Baughman. He was the start of it for me. My first love.”

My Go-To Book and TV Show

“A favorite novel of mine is Down These Mean Streets by Piri Thomas. I also read a lot of poetry books because I have a poet’s soul. And I watch The Office every day. I’m one of those people.”
