Is there anyone more enviable than Chrissy Teigen? From her charming cleverness to her show-stopping style to her talented husband to her acclaimed cookbook, and, of course, her always-perfect hair.

And while the other things might be a tad tough to mimic, her hair is (somewhat) attainable, thanks to some insider knowledge. We chatted with the incredible Jen Atkin, the celeb hairstylist to Teigen (and also a little known family called the Kardashians), and discovered there is one product the model always uses…

Atkin is the founder of the beloved haircare line Ouai, and since its launch in 2016, she’s created cult-status products like their Dry Shampoo Foam, a brilliant, hydrating Leave In Conditioner, and perhaps their most lauded, the ocean-in-a-bottle Wave Spray ($26), which just so happens to be the secret to Teigen’s effortless, cool-girl locks.

Wave Spray is different than other sea salt sprays thanks to the addition of rice protein in the mist, which adds major body, while also giving weightless texture to your beachy waves. The mist leaves out the sea salt because it can be drying to some hair, especially with constantly and repeated use. The weightless spray also imparts a touch of shine, and is scented with a complex, floral aroma (people will swear you’re wearing some mysterious, exotic scent).

And best of all, the spray is rather foolproof. You can apply it on dry or damp hair, letting the mist fully dry while it adds texture and waves. Or you can simply spritz it on your roots for a volume boost.

Or do like Teigen does: “Chrissy’s hair always has tons of volume, regardless of the length,” says Atkin. “I always prep the hair with Ouai Wave Spray throughout—whether it’s wet or dry, and Ouai Soft Mousse at the roots for texture. I like to blow-dry the mousse in with an Ibiza Boar/Nylon mixed bristle brush then use a GHD Curling Iron to create a loose bend, keeping the ends straight and going over the front with my Harry Josh flat iron.”

Good enough for Chrissy Teigen, good enough for us!
