Built-In Drawers
Rather than using big bulky furniture for clothing and storage, some rooms are better suited for built-in dressers. Look for creative ways to build into the structure of the walls or roofline. In my kids’ bedroom, I opted for two sets of drawers on each side of the window seat. It creates incredible functionality and storage capacity, while adding symmetry and visual weight to the design of the room.

Kitchen Baking Drawers
Custom drawers for baking and other dry goods make a kitchen function beautifully and feel luxurious. Choose the type of containers you want ahead of time and layout your storage needs with the cabinet maker. It’s not too expensive, but must be planned with plenty of time to work into the kitchen design.

Hooks, Hooks, And More Hooks!
I installed double robe hooks on the back of every door in the bedrooms, bathrooms, and closets. It makes it easier to keep towels off the ground and practical for hang drying clothes and storing sweatshirts, robes, and hats.

Laundry-Room Drying Bar
Leave space for a hanging rod at the end of an upper cabinet in your laundry room to create a space for drying clothes. You can even find custom length rods and special finishes to match your cabinet hardware.

Custom Tile Mirrors
Finding the right size mirror for a custom size vanity in spaces like the master bathroom can be difficult. In bathrooms, I opt for customizing mirrors with tile rather than trimming them out with wood casing. Marble mosaic tile can be affordable and adds dimension to an otherwise simple feature. Look online for different materials and get creative with the way you use them.

Art Lighting
Lighting makes the difference between a home feeling standard and luxurious. Task and art lighting makes such an impact in spaces where you can accent art and décor. If you have a larger piece of art, use 2 task lights to create a gallery feel.

Stools
Find ways to use dead space in cabinets for functional features like stepstools for kids! Use a solid wood drawer that glides out onto the floor with a cabinet pull for easy access. These make every day tasks like teeth brushing and hand washing so much easier for the little ones!

Stairwells
Create an impact in a stairwell with unique details like Chippendale or fretwork millwork. This Chippendale design can be both traditional or modern depending on the context and makes an impressive statement with any style.
Patterned Carpet
Patterned carpet is one of my favorite ways to give a simple room a POP! A bonus room or playroom is the perfect space for patterned carpet. It creates interest and also hides messes!
