When it comes to home renovations, there are no shortage of possibilities when choosing from an array of bold colors and textures for the walls and statement-making surfaces for the bathrooms and kitchen. Nevertheless, every once in awhile, we come across a home which challenges the traditional and embraces an innovative twist on a classic decor concept.

When we got a glimpse inside Eddie Lee’s chic Manhattan apartment makeover, we were inspired by the creative use of traditional materials in the most unexpected places. Our favorite few? A bold slab of black Caesarstone quartz used as a fireplace surround in the living room, and the sleek effect of the concrete-esque quartz countertops in the kitchen. That got us thinking. So we caught up with our friends at Caesarstone, who gave us the scoop on their chic and durable surfaces, and just how many unique ways one can use these at home. See for yourself!

CAESARSTONE WAS A PIONEER IN INTRODUCING NATURAL QUARTZ SURFACES TO HOMEOWNERS. WHAT IS SO UNIQUE ABOUT YOUR QUARTZ?

Caesarstone’s quartz is beautiful and durable. Its highly stain resistant composition makes for a strong yet flexible surface, which does not support mold or mildew. Due to the quartz aggregate, Caesarstone is even tougher and more scratch resistant than granite or marble.

WHAT ARE SOME COMMON MISCONCEPTIONS PEOPLE MAY HAVE ABOUT QUARTZ?

There’s often confusion when it comes to distinguishing between a quartz surface and a solid one, as some consider quartz to be the latter. There’s also a big misconception when it comes to pricing, as some may think that quartz is in a high price range and not affordable. This is not true!

WHAT ADVANTAGES DO CAESARSTONE’S SURFACES HAVE OVER MARBLE AND OTHER SURFACES?

Caesarstone outperforms natural stone. It has four times more flexural strength and two times more impact resistance than granite. It also exceeds the standards for marble by even greater margins. Caesarstone provides greater consistency than ordinary stone that is veined and prone to flaws.

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO CLEAN CAESARSTONE SURFACES?

Caesarstone is a very low-maintenance material. Unlike natural stone, it does not require periodic resealing for stain resistance, and its good looks can be maintained without the use of harsh cleaning chemicals. Its hard, nonporous polished surface makes Caesarstone simple to clean. In most cases, soap and water or a mild detergent is all that is required to maintain its luster, as Caesarstone does not require the need for sealants or waxes. This improves indoor-air quality and the environmental impact of sealer and cleaning chemicals. If required, adhered materials like food, gum, and nail polish can be scraped away with a plastic putty knife; marks left by the putty knife can be removed with Soft Scrub® Gel with Bleach.

WHY ARE CAESARSTONE COUNTERTOPS IDEAL FOR BATHROOMS OR KITCHENS?

For the kitchen, consider Caesarstone to be a virtually worry-free surface, not affected by normal daily use. It is resistant to natural acids such as lemon juice (which has no effect and can be cleaned with soap and water), nail polish (which can be is easily removed with aceton), and red wine stains, which can be removed with bleach gel. Caesarstone is

four times

more flexible than granite, which prevents the stress and cracking in natural stone and it is

two times

more impact resistant than granite or marble. The higher the quartz content, the stronger the surface is and the better it performs. Caesarstone is also an ideal surface for the bathroom, due to its nonporous characteristics, which prevent the growth of harmful mold, mildew, and bacteria.
