Etsy is the online equivalent of the famous Brimfield flea market—it’s chock-full of hidden gems, but unless you know where to look, you can spend all day aimlessly wandering around before you get sucked into a poor deal. The site has become the ultimate source for one-of-a-kind goods and a platform for up-and-coming artists. But with thousands of pages of vendors to sort through, it can be hard to weed out the winners.

Knowing where to find the best furniture and decor online is a skill that can take months (if not years) to master. Luckily, interior designers scour sites like Etsy for a living. Trust us: They love the online marketplace as much as you do. That’s why we asked a handful of pros to share the shops they keep in their back pockets at all times. Where do they buy affordable prints? Who do they go to for Oushak rugs? How do they find vintage chandeliers?

Consider this compiled list of 12 shops your Etsy cheat sheet.

Kiki and Polly

Michelle Gage’s Philadelphia home is filled to the max with cool art. The designer used a mix of paintings, portraits, prints, and tchotchkes to create an unparalleled display that nearly envelopes the entire living room—including pieces from Kiki and Polly. “For artwork, I’ve been a long time gawker of Lisa Golightly’s shop Kiki and Polly. I’m full-blown obsessed with her,” shares Gage. Golightly’s original paintings generally hit the under-$30 mark and deliver nostalgic summer vibes.

Wallflora Shop

Bold botanicals are the name of the game for this hidden gem—another one of Gage’s go-to shops. “They carry the most vibrant removable wallpaper,” says the designer. Wallflora’s calathea leaves print was the star of a Palm Springs–inspired living room Gage recently designed for the One Room Challenge.

Heddle & Lamm

Natalie Myers of Veneer Designs relies on Etsy for the finishing touches. “Etsy is a major source for me. I’ve found so many good vendors through [the site],” says Myers. Her sweet spot? Textiles that make you feel as good as they look. Take Utah-based shop Heddle & Lamm. This year, a portion of each purchase will go to sponsor 32 scholarships for primary and secondary students in Ghana.

Alma Artisan

“This maker has the most beautiful and delicate ceramics,” says New York–based designer Becky Shea. There’s a warmth and brightness to ceramicist Tina Schowalter’s creations that you won’t be able to find at your local Target. “Each vessel has the right amount of movement to feel modern yet earthy,” she adds.

Old Wooden Stool

Antiquing is a lot more fun when you can do it from the comfort of your sofa in your pajamas. Among Etsy’s many standout vintage sellers is this Dutch vendor that sells worn wood accents that have stood the test of time. “I’m really into the weathered wood antique benches and stools right now and would love to use one of these for a coffee table or bath-side table soon,” says NYC-based designer Emma Beryl.

Curious Clay

“I’m very into handmade pottery these days, and no one does it better than Curious Clay,” says Gage of her go-to Etsy ceramicist. Jannalyn Bailey reimagines jewelry, kitchenware, and incense holders with hits of gold and burnt orange. “Jannalyn’s work is fun and funky while maintaining a serious level of sophistication,” continues Gage. “Bonus points: She’s also from my city.”

Noa Razer Studio

From hallway sconces to kitchen pendants, Jen Samson loves Etsy for its affordable range of stylish light fixtures. “Whether it be a ceramic fixture, a small mid-century-inspired wall sconce, a large sculptural fixture or a swing arm, there are so many beautiful, handcrafted fixtures that we have discovered,” says the SoCal designer. Noa Razer’s colorful and humorous lights are one of many picks on Samson’s go-to list. Other smaller manufacturers she’s loving include DL Design Works, Mod Creation Studio, Photonic Studio, Nino Shea Design, Object and Light, Illuminate Vintage, and Triple Seven Home.

Tshaj

The simplest way to spice up a standard beige sofa is to get creative with the pillows. There’s no such thing as too many patterns as long as there’s a common geometric motif or colors to tie the arrangement together. One of Myers’ go-to sources for rad textiles, this Chiang Mai, Thailand, purveyor takes ordinary throw pillows one step further by incorporating doses of hot pink.

Grout 360

If your idea of a spring refresh spans beyond a simple coffee table swap, tackle the bathroom or kitchen backsplash with a bold tile move instead. Caitlin Murray of Black Lacquer Design is currently obsessing over this brand’s gridded grout. “Colored grout can be tricky to find, so we were thrilled when we discovered Grout 360’s Etsy shop,” shares Murray. “Not only does it have a great selection of grout colors, but it also can match paint colors. It is super great to work with and can even send you samples.”

Home and Rugs

Next to Chairish, eBay, and Anthropologie, you’ll find interior designers shopping for unique, inexpensive rugs on Etsy. While it’s helpful to have a general idea of what you’re looking for in terms of style, color, and age, it’s just as important to nail down a seller that’s reliable and fair. For Beryl—who was recently on the hunt for a neutral, vintage Turkish Oushak—that was New Jersey shop Home and Rugs. “It had so many choices and were so responsive when I had questions about the pieces,” says the designer. “It also offers free shipping and free returns, which is so important because you always want to see and feel a rug in person before committing.”

Art in Life Italy

Murray’s wildly colorful projects usually include a rad chandelier—now we know where she gets them. “As someone who is constantly on the hunt for vintage Italian light fixtures, I am currently obsessed with Art in Life Italy. There are so many gorgeous chandeliers and they are incredibly priced,” says Murray.

Dylan Design Co.

Soon after finishing up his fourth season as lead carpenter for Extreme Makeover, Tony Oliver started Dylan Design Co. Myers’ favorite Etsy source for custom furniture, Oliver’s modern staple pieces—like this sleek lounger crafted from maple and leather—are designed with timeless spaces in mind.
