Have you tried a quarantine remodel yet? If the answer is yes, you’re not alone. According to a new survey from Review Home Warranties, renovation searches have increased by 84 percent compared to this time last year—and the most popular room to upgrade might not be what you expect. People aren’t looking to spice up their shared living space or even refresh the kitchen where they’ve been making all that sourdough. Instead, they’re focusing on bathrooms.

The researchers looked at Google data and found that searches for that room are at 46,530—the highest for any individual space, even beating out backyards. While this seems surprising (inflatable pools have been selling out for a reason), it makes sense for people on the lookout for a smaller project to tackle—ideally one that doesn’t require a contractor. If you’re ready to take the plunge on a few updates to your own bathroom, here are three low-lift ways to make it happen.

Add Some Stickers

Peel-and-stick tiles, that is. Look for waterproof ones to apply over dingy rental floors, and have fun with colorful subway options for a vibrant sink backsplash.

Swap Out the Curtain

If you have an especially tiny space, chances are your shower takes up a good chunk of it—so why not pick a curtain that makes a statement? Between graphic shapes and verdant botanical prints, there are tons of art-inspired hangings to choose from.

We’re not just talking about cabinet knobs: Small details, like towel hooks and toilet paper holders, can make a difference in how personal a room is. The best part? All you need is a screwdriver.
