Her highly-acclaimed and semi-autobiographical show may be all about making it in New York City, but Abbi Jacobson’s latest real-estate purchase proves that hard work—mixed with a killer sense of humor—really does pay off. According to Variety, the talented writer and actress of Comedy Central’s Broad City just scooped up a retro 1950s-style pad in L.A’s ultra hip Silver Lake neighborhood. And per the original listing, the comedy genius paid $225,000 over the asking price.
Coming in at a grand total of almost $1.6 million, the 2,000-square-foot home boasts panoramic views and indoor-outdoor living that makes it well worth the extra cash.
Jacobson will enjoy three bedrooms and two bathrooms worth of indoor living space along with a spacious front deck, large rear patio, and yard outside—all of which make this home extremely conducive to Cali entertaining.
A light-flooded living room is flanked by floor-to-ceiling windows that provide unobstructed, palm tree-filled views of the surrounding area. The room’s stone fireplace is a stunning focal point that separates the sitting area from the adjacent dining room. While the massive fireplace alone gives off instant retro vibes, other decor elements add to the mid-century style of the building: A dark paneled accent wall and vaulted wood-beamed ceilings give the space the throwback hipster charm that is characteristic of the Silver Lake area.
Open concept kitchen and dining quarters flow out to the extensive covered patio, which can be accessed from large sliding glass doors.
In the beautifully updated kitchen, simple white Shaker-style cabinets surround a center island and provide extra storage space. A restored antique Chambers’ stove top accompanies the rest of the up-to-date stainless steel appliances that pop against the stark cabinetry and muted palette. The open floor plan also features a large butler’s pantry and laundry area off to the side for maximum convenience.
The home’s sun-filled master bedroom boasts stunning views of downtown LA courtesy of a full wall of windows. The bright bedroom feels both spacious and airy, while dark hardwood floors provide contrast and give it a rich, rustic feel. There’s also a large master closet and patio access.
In the en suite master bath, a freestanding tub and rain shower combo dominate the space for ultimate relaxation. The marble-topped double vanity and whitewashed walls make the space feel big and almost spa-like.
Outside, a covered patio and separate porch area provide ample room for indoor-outdoor living and entertaining.
Given that her new pad is within walking distance of all the artsy, vibrant happenings of Silver Lake, Jacobson will be surrounded by tons of other writers, actors, and creators. James Franco recently lived there, proving that the celeb draw to this Los Angeles hotspot is alive and well.
