Forget the extravagant restaurants, there’s a new place in New York City to get your celebrity sighting fix: 443 Greenwich Street, an 1880 book bindery-turned luxe condo building. It’s also the newest home address for several of our favorite A-list celebrities.
Billed as a “paparazzi-proof” haven, 443 Greenwich already has a host of celebrity residents. Jennifer Lawrence was one of the first to show interest—you can actually rent her condo for $27,500 a month while she shoots a movie—followed by a heap of high-wattage names: Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel own a penthouse, Meg Ryan dropped just over $9 million for a unit, Harry Styles may have bought a condo there, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are allegedly residents, and most recently Jake Gyllenhaal bought a three-bedroom apartment.
Developed by Metro Loft and designed by CetraRuddy, apartments in the coveted and recently completed building are quickly being snatched up. Located in Manhattan’s Tribeca neighborhood, the seven-story building features 53 condos: 45 loft-style apartments and eight penthouses, all of which are being marketed by Douglas Elliman. As of right now, there are only eight units still available, ranging from the low, low price of $8.2 million for a 3,080-square-foot three bedroom apartment to $55 million for the last remaining penthouse.
The homes are the highest of the high end—the photos here show a glimpse of the model unit—with 8-inch oak parquet floors, plenty of marble and schist finishes, acid-etched glass accents, and sprawling open-plan layouts.
One look at the building’s impressive amenities, and it’s easy to see exactly what attracted these stars to the property.
To start with, 443 Greenwich offers valet parking and 15 on-site parking spaces—which, as anyone who lives in NYC will tell you, are as rare to come by in Manhattan as reasonably priced cocktails or in-house laundry. The central 4,000-square-foot courtyard was designed by HM White, who also worked on the New York Times lobby garden and the Madison Square Park master plan. There's also a 75-foot lap pool with travertine marble walls that has a spa-like vibe.
There’s also a 5,000-square-foot landscaped roof deck, a fitness center with two private yoga studios, a Hammam steam room, and a children’s play area. Oh, and a climate-controlled wine cellar for the bottles “you may want to save for special occasions or simply age” (we’re guessing the residents of 443 Greenwich won’t be headed to Trader Joe’s for two buck chuck anytime soon).
If you have a few million dollars and are intrigued by the idea of celebrity neighbors, hurry. There’s only a limited amount of units left to buy—though you can rent some, like this 3,949-square-foot unit, for around $40,000 a month (lol).
