Hey, neat you’re traveling somewhere? Where ya going? Oh, wow, sounds amazing. Well, you've got the travel products sorted for a long trip already. But now you've got to pack up the best travel-sized and beach-ready products before you take off. Take it from me, these are all the beauty products I survived on—scratch that—thrived on, in Bali.
SK-II Facial Treatment Essence ($99) works wonders on maintaining hydration in skin, which is exactly what I need when traveling literally to the other side of the world.
Christophe Robin Aloe Shampoo and Body Bar (launching in September) is so handy for both body and hair, and guaranteed not to spill in your suitcase thanks to the bar form. I’m also a huge fan of the Volumizing Travel Pouch ($45) and the little Cleansing Volumizing Paste for deeply, deeply removing gunk in hair from traveling (or oil from those holiday massages).
Jiva Apoha Amma (Mother) Body Oil ($60) has the best smell, and I’ve recently made the switch to oils from lotion, mainly because they usually have many purposes beyond just moisturizing. Sometimes they soothe or relax your mind with lavender or sandalwood, or even balance chakras (if you’re into that). The trick to body oil with (or without) a lot of essential oils is to put the oil on right out of the shower, don’t towel off at all. Trust me. The oil will go on easier and you’ll have to use less.
Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo ($10) works great and is guaranteed not to spill everywhere.
SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic ($165) is an anti-aging must, even on short weekend trips.
Caudalie Instant Foaming Cleanser ($14) is so effective yet gentle. I didn’t want to bring along two different cleansers like I do at home, so I trusted in this entirely, and it was a rockstar.
Fig and Yarrow Pink Love Bath Salts ($12) and Aromatherapy Associates Bath Oils Travel Pack ($49) are both something I always bring along to luxe hotels. I knew I was going to The Four Seasons in Bali, and that their bathtubs are epic. I love these two pairings especially and always looking for an excuse to bring them along for a trip.
RMS Beauty Signature Set ($44) has a bronzer, blush, highlighter, and cocoa butter balm—all in one kit the size of your palm. And the classic RMS Beauty “Un” Cover-up ($36) is both a super natural foundation and concealer—perfect for a warm locale where you don’t want to wear a lot of makeup.
Buly 1803 Opiat Toothpaste ($27) had me at the packaging. And Buly 1803 Scented Soap Sheets ($14) are damask rose scented sheets that foam up when it comes in contact with water. But the packaging again! I can’t handle it. Too good.
Fueguia 1833 30ml Perfume (price varies according to scent) are highly curated scents and amazingly powerful, which means one spritz will last you all day.
Quip Electric Toothbrush ($50) forever and ever and always.
Blinc Mascara Amplified ($26) was made for travel, no need for eye makeup remover, it comes off in tubes with just water.
Verb Sea Spray ($7) for beachy waves, while at the beach catching waves.
Eres Georgia One Piece ($580) is the sexiest cut and the best shade of orange-red.
Le Specs Bodoozle Sunglasses ($47) are super fun for tropical weather.
Chantecaille Lip Sleek ($38) is fab for warm weather because it lasts like a lipstick, is shiny like a gloss, and conditions and hydrates like a balm. I especially like the poppy red Grenadine and deep pink Orchid.
Too Cool For School Blotting Papers ($8) is amazing at oil-absorbing mid-day in hot temps because it comes with a handy puff that self-adhesives to the blotting sheet for easy, rather civilized use.
For sunscreen, I use a series of options for all day coverage. I start every morning with Farmacy Green Screen SPF 30 ($36) before makeup. And Soleil Toujours Perpetual Eye Glow & Illuminator ($68) is great for protecting and hydrating the sensitive skin around your eyes. Then Soleil Toujours SPF 30 Micro Mist ($36) is great for reapplying midday for added protection and radiance and ILIA Moondance SPF 20 ($34) is actually a translucent finishing powder in addition to SPF 20 too, so it also absorbs oil and shine on your face.
And for body, I love Cle de Peau 50+ Body Sunscreen ($90) because it can withstand intense activities like tennis, and is waterproof.
Master That Hack
I love to put masks in contact lenses containers. I put Fresh Umbrian Clay Mask ($60) on one side of the lens (which I do right after the plane to pull out gunk), and then Chantecaille Hibiscus Smoothing Mask ($90) on the other side on the case (and use it right after the clay mask to sloth off any extra gunk the clay mask pulled out).
