We never tire of new fodder for our daily blog reads. Food blogs, how-tos, style, we’ll take it all–especially when it comes from a source we love. Such is true of “ Happily Eva After ” a new lifestyle blog from actress Eva Amurri Martino! Her family-focused lifestyle blog is one to bookmark, due to its realness, and its offering as a positive, supportive, inspiring place for parents to virtually gather. To find out why, read on for wise words from Eva herself!

HOW DID YOUR BLOG COME ABOUT?

When I became a mother, I quickly realized what was going to make me the happiest– and the best mother I could be to Marlowe– was if I found a way of balancing motherhood (a whole world in itself) with the other dynamics of my life pre-baby. I wanted to be a wonderful and loving mother, a great partner to my husband, AND the same multifaceted woman I was before. But I felt like I didn’t know how to begin, or what that would be like. Happily Eva After aims to be a resource and fun destination for parents who have similar goals with the parenting/work/life balance.

WHERE DO YOU DRAW INSPIRATION FOR YOUR POSTS AND POST TOPICS?

Everything I write about on my site has to do with what I’m experiencing or loving in my life at every stage. I’ve been brutally honest with my readers about everything from my own shortcomings as a parent to my recent miscarriage. I find strength in being vulnerable and accepting that life isn’t perfect all the time. But you can still find happiness and humor in the imperfections!

WHAT IS THE BEST COMMENT YOU’VE RECEIVED SO FAR?

I’ve received so many beautiful (and sad) comments from fellow women who have endured miscarriages. It feels powerful to have created a place where so many people felt comfortable and safe sharing their heartbreaks, and offering each other words of support. It was the greatest gift I’ve ever been given.

WHAT PART OF THE BLOGGING PROCESS DO YOU ENJOY THE MOST?

I love communicating with my readers and creating a community of supportive and interesting parents. It really has taught me that people are generally kind and want to lift other mothers up, no matter the few rotten apples who would like to attempt otherwise!

ANY FAVORITE MEMORIES OF

THE BLOG DESIGN

PROCESS THAT YOU’D LIKE TO SHARE?

My favorite part of the design process was shooting the artwork with my photographer, Nina! She always captures the melody of our family so perfectly, and I really trust her which makes the process so fun!

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR MOTHERS WITH YOUNG KIDS WHO ARE HOPING TO START A BLOG OF THEIR OWN?

The best advice I have is to just start writing! Find your voice and be true to who YOU are as a blogger and as a Mother. I’ve found that readers respond so well to honesty. I believe that if we are honest with ourselves and others, and keep a sense of humor, we can all live our own Happily-Ever-After!
