|30 things to do before turning 30 |
Create a home for yourself. Accept the fact that this might not be where you ultimately grow old and make this a place where you actually want to be. A space that feels inviting and, above all, yours.
Sing your heart out at a karaoke bar. There’s no fun in sitting down the entire night. What's your song?
Learn to cook. Have one or two go-to dishes under your belt to impress your family, girlfriends, or a date.
Cleanse. No, we’re not talking about the juice kind. Get rid of the things that aren’t absolutely necessary in your life (yes, that includes those toxic friends).
Establish an exercise routine. And stick to it. The key to a long life lies in your health. You’ll be surprised on how good it will make your head feel, too.
Immerse yourself in a completely different culture. Explore a new region, eat like the locals, and make new friends.
Set up (and follow) a sleeping routine. Six hours a night just won’t cut it anymore.
Let yourself have a ‘Ferris Bueller’ moment. Forget your responsibilities, take the day off, and do something you love.
Overcome one of your fears. Start with just one. Then, slowly but surely, cross them all off your list.
Volunteer. Small or big. Do something. Once a year or once a week. Find a way to give back.
Learn a different language. No, you're not too old to start.
Share your knowledge and experiences. You’ve had people (parents, teachers, bosses, mentors) teaching you along the way. It's time for you to pass on what you've learned.
Learn to play an instrument.
Say “I love you” more often. Remind people that you care about them. It's good for them to hear. It's important for you to say.
Travel somewhere exotic. Buy something really special so you'll have more than just photos and stories to remember your adventures by.
Buy tickets to a music festival. When you get there, dance like you’re the only one there.
Make time for the people who really count. Because at the end of the day, it's those special people, your family and friends, who truly matter the most.
Pull an all-nighter. Not the cramming-for-an-exam-college-kind. Creativity and inspiration often strike at the most unlikely of times. Try it. Just once.
Push yourself out of your comfort zone. Do something that involves the heart-pumping adrenaline rush. Think hot air balloon ride, bungee jumping, skydiving.
Test your limits. Climb a mountain. (No, it doesn’t have to be Mount Everest).
Be OK with hanging alone. Whether it’s seeing a movie, eating dinner in a crowded restaurant, or traveling around the world. Learn to enjoy your own company.
Invest in well-made pieces of clothing. Quality over quantity.
Plan a cross-country road trip. You’ve seen Europe and maybe even Asia. Have you seen all of America?
Read every book written by your favorite author.
Learn to live without your phone. Turn it off for an hour, then a day, and then for an entire week. We dare you to see what happens when you unplug.
Vote. Your opinion counts and can make a major difference.
Start a 401K.
Read more. We mean more than just your Twitter feed.
Find a mentor. Or at least someone who you can bounce career advice off of. Meet with them a few times a year.
Throw yourself a huge birthday party. You deserve it.
