Saint Rita miraculously entered the monastery as a nun in the early 15th century. She's typically identified with roses or a wound on her forehead. This depiction of her is quite a rarity, with a colorful, antiqued finish. This vintage statue is just one from our Philippines Santos Collection. Santos like these were once crafted by priests for villagers to use in home altars, especially where there was no local church. This practice originated in Eastern Europe, and became widespread in the 17th and 18th centuries. Our Santos come from Manila and are nearly a century old, as evidenced by wear from years of reverential handling.Dimensions: 9.5"w x 8"d x 23.5"h
