Louis XVI Wall Panel and Mirror

Constructed around 1780, this panel would have been the focal point in the wall of a salon or dining space. The mirror comes from the same time period, but was most likely added to the panel later. Both pieces boast handcarved details and the expected weathering but with some of the original finish still showing through. The carvings on the panel depict dual cannon shafts and French flags, symbolizing Revolution-era France and its slogan, "Liberté, égalité, et fraternité!" Iconic pieces like this one are rarely found anymore.
