Not your typical tassel! These are made and inspired by "Cintas", or hair ribbons, which are a part of most Mayan women's traditional dress. Each village has their own style of cinta as well as their unique way of wearing it. In some villages, how a woman wears her cinta may indicate whether she is married or has children! The amount or thread used to make just one pom pom is bananas and only a skilled pom pom maker can give this little ball of joy the right shape without thousands of pieces of thread falling apart!
