what you'll need

step 1 Before you begin, make sure you have enough paper to cover the gift box. Begin by laying out the wrapping paper (print side down) and placing the box in the center.
step 2 Measure out how much paper you'll need before cutting. Pull the paper over the present to get an approximate sense of how much you'll need.
step 3 Measure out 3 extra inches of paper and make the cut.
step 4 Place a small piece of double-sided tape at the edge of the box.
step 5 Bring one side of the paper up and over the top of the box, securing it to the package with the double-sided tape.
step 6 Fold in an inch of the paper– from the opposing side–creasing the line for a smooth edge.
step 7 Bring the alternate side of the paper (with the folded edge) up and over the first sheet. Anchor it to the box with a piece of double-sided tape.
step 8 Gently press the top flap of the paper down against the side of the box. Using your thumb and index finger, crease the protruding edges to form two right angle triangles
step 9 Fold in the right and left triangles, to create one large triangle at the base of the box.
step 10 Bring the bottom triangle up along the side of the box and secure it with strip of tape.
step 11 Repeat steps 8-10 on the other side of the gift box.
pro tip Creasing the edges of the triangle provide a clean-cut finish that will elevate the look of the finished product.
Use double-sided or clear tape for a smooth finish.
Ta-da! Cue the fancy bow.
