how to measure fabric for your window treatments
We, too, were intimidated by curtains—until we learned this tip.
Calculating how wide a curtain should be involves not only the size of the window but how much fullness you want when the drapes are closed—if in fact you’re going to close them. We think curtains look best when there is a generous amount of fabric, which gives a relaxed, gracious feel. (Measurements are for a standard 32" to 36" width.)
for standard curtains:
1 1⁄2 x window width = one panel
for hanging-wide curtains:
2 x window width = one panel
