Betsy Burnham forges a fashionable home in the Los Angeles hills.
When celebrity fashion stylist Nicole Chavez called upon interior designer Betsy Burnham for help in revamping her five-bedroom Los Feliz home, Burnham knew just what to do. “Throughout the process, I remained very conscious of Chavez’s profession,” she says. “I felt safe in experimenting with color and texture as long as I kept the space very functional.” Along with the help of colleague Max Humphrey, Burnham created a comfortable interior for a family of four. And to satisfy Chavez’s trendsetting tastes, the designers crafted an eclectic, lounge-style living area, a kid-friendly family room, and a dining room that features a bold assortment of prints and colors. “By keeping larger furnishings and most walls muted,” says Burnham, “we were able to employ patterns in unexpected ways.”
